India compliance guide
Open a topic to read the rules. The panel shows how Adrox checks each one before a message leaves.
Every business sending commercial SMS in India registers on a DLT (Distributed Ledger Technology) platform run by the telecom operators. Registration happens on the operator’s portal — Adrox stores your IDs and checks every send against them.
Register your entity
Register your business as a principal entity on any operator’s DLT portal. You get an entity ID that every operator recognises.
Register 6-character headers
Headers are the sender IDs people see. Service and transactional headers use letters; promotional headers use numbers.
Register content templates and variables
Every message needs an approved template, with the changing parts marked as variables. Each template gets a template ID that must travel with every send — content that doesn’t match is rejected.
Pick the right category
Promotional, service implicit, service explicit or transactional. Service-explicit messages need consent recorded on DLT.
Whitelist URLs and callback numbers
Links, app links and call-back numbers in an SMS must be whitelisted on DLT. Messages with unlisted links are blocked.
Expect scrubbing
Operators scrub promotional traffic against each person’s preferences and recorded consent before delivery, and trace the chain of telemarketers that carried it.
General guidance, not legal advice. Rules change — confirm current requirements on your operator’s DLT portal, in Meta’s WhatsApp Business policies and with mailbox providers.

Glossary
From CAPI to contribution margin. Pick a letter to narrow the list.
All 34 terms, A to Z
A/B test
Sending two or more versions to random parts of an audience to see which performs better.
Journeys →Attribution
How credit for a lead or sale is shared across the touches that led to it — first, last, linear, time-decay or position-based.
Attribution →Autonomy level
How much an Adrox agent may do alone: Suggest only, Ask me first, or Autopilot inside guardrails.
AI agents →Business Profile
Your Google listing on Search and Maps — hours, photos, posts and reviews.
Business Profile →CAPI (Conversions API)
Meta’s server-side way to receive conversions, such as site visits or sales, straight from your systems instead of a browser pixel.
Meta Ads →Click ID
An identifier added to ad clicks — gclid for Google, fbclid for Meta — that lets a later sale be matched to the ad.
Google Ads →Contribution margin
Revenue minus the variable costs of earning it, including media. Ranks campaigns by profit, not just by ROAS.
Attribution →Customer Match
Google’s way to reach your own customer lists, uploaded securely, across its ad surfaces.
Google Ads →DKIM
An email signature that proves a message came from your domain and wasn’t altered on the way.
Email →DLT
Distributed Ledger Technology platforms run by Indian telecom operators, where businesses register entities, headers, templates and consent for commercial SMS.
SMS →DMARC
A DNS policy telling mailbox providers what to do with mail that fails SPF or DKIM, and where to send reports.
Email →DND
Do Not Disturb: the national preference register people use, via 1909 or the DND app, to block promotional messages and calls.
SMS →Enhanced Conversions
Google’s way of matching conversions using hashed first-party data such as email or phone. The “for Leads” version covers offline outcomes like site visits.
Google Ads →Entity ID
The ID your business receives when it registers as a principal entity on a DLT portal.
SMS →GEO
Generative Engine Optimization: improving how AI answer engines such as ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity and Google AI Overviews mention and cite your brand.
GEO →Guardrail
A hard limit an Adrox agent cannot cross alone — a daily cap, a target cost, or a rule that needs approval.
Google Ads →Holdout
A random group kept out of a campaign on purpose, so results can be compared with people who received it.
Attribution →Incrementality
The conversions a campaign actually caused — treated group minus holdout — rather than ones that would have happened anyway.
Attribution →Journey
A multi-step automated path — messages, waits and branches — triggered by what a person does.
Journeys →Knowledge base
The sourced facts about a project or brand that ground every ad, message and page Adrox drafts.
Content studio →Look-alike
An audience of people who resemble your converters, built from their shared traits.
Meta Ads →Opt-in
A recorded, clear agreement from a person to receive messages on a specific channel.
WhatsApp →PMax
Performance Max: a Google Ads campaign type that runs across Google’s channels from one set of assets and goals.
Google Ads →RERA
Registration under India’s Real Estate (Regulation and Development) Act. Project ads usually show the RERA number.
Real estate →Share of AI voice
How often AI engines mention you compared with competitors, across the prompts you track.
GEO →Suppression
A list of people who must not be messaged — unsubscribes, bounces and complaints — checked at send time.
Email →Template ID
The ID a DLT platform gives each approved SMS template. It must accompany every message.
SMS →Utility template
A WhatsApp template for updates about something a person asked for, like a visit reminder.
WhatsApp →UTM
Tags added to a link that tell analytics which source, medium and campaign brought a visitor.
Attribution →Window (24-hour)
