Designing marketing agents that can earn more autonomy
Start with narrow permissions, observable work and an explicit path to human review.

Marketing systems become useful when the operating decisions around them are explicit: ownership, evidence, permission, exceptions and the next action.
Give the agent a job, not a department
Useful agents begin with a bounded assignment: compare campaign evidence, prepare a content brief, classify creative or identify SEO priorities. Narrow scope makes output easier to review and failure easier to contain.
Separate recommendation from execution
An agent can assemble evidence and propose an action without receiving permission to publish content, change spend or message a customer. Those boundaries should be explicit, visible and adjustable by task type.
Expand autonomy from operating evidence
Review acceptance, corrections, failure patterns and downstream outcomes. Grant more autonomy only where the record shows reliable performance and a safe reversal or escalation path exists.
The goal is less coordination cost with more accountability.
